The Real Wedding of Marianne & Alexei in the Philippines

From a sunset proposal to a boho celebration

After a couple of sunny days here in Essex, we thought we'd carry on the warm weather vibes by sharing the real wedding of Marianne & Alexei. A sweet couple who recently tied the knot in the Philippines! Yes please!

Our loved up pair chose this particular far-flung destination as Marianne's now husband Alexei is Filipino, and they wanted to celebrate his culture on their big day. But they didn't forget our brides' rich heritage during their ceremony, and made sure to incorporate some special Greek touches within their exchange.

How did you two meet? ⁣

We met online on Bumble 🐝⁣

How did you get engaged?⁣

We were on holiday in Palawan (an island in the Philippines) and Alexei had arranged a private tour. At the end of the day, we took a walk on the beach and the "tour guides" took some pictures of us. He proposed at sunset and revealed that the tour guides were not actually tour guides, but professional photographers, so we now have some beautiful pictures to remember this special moment forever.

What was your favourite moment(s) from the wedding? ⁣

As my husband and I are from very different cultures, my favourite part was mixing our traditions. We used the Filipino tradition of the unity veil and the Greek tradition of the wedding crowns (aka Stefana) during our ceremony.

My other favourite part was seeing my husband’s face as I walked down the aisle and sharing our personal vows with each other.⁣

Tell us all about your wedding dress!⁣

As cliché as it might sound, I felt like a princess! It was the total opposite of what I thought I would go for. I loved the neckline and the sparkle, I felt beautiful in it! ⁣

What was the general decor for your big day? ⁣

We wanted to represent a mix of our cultures but also keep it classy with a boho feel. With my dress having a slight mauve undertone, we used that as inspiration for the colour scheme.⁣

Do you have any advice for future Bellissima Brides? ⁣

Try not to stress. If things turn out differently than you'd planned on the day, you honestly won't care! Enjoy every moment, and don’t leave your partner's side.

When planning and wedding dress shopping be honest, and go with your gut! ⁣⁣

How was your Bellissima experience? ⁣

It was amazing, I have already recommended Bellissima Weddings to a friend who has now also purchased her dress from you! Thank you for making my wedding dress experience perfect from beginning to end! ⁣
