If you’re planning to wear a form fitting wedding dress, such as a mermaid-style dress or something similar, then you’re going to want to go with a special sort of bridal lingerie. Reason being is that if you wear a form-fitting bridal gown, it’s really easy to see the lines of your lingerie. Therefore, you’ll need something specifically created for a form-fitting dress. For the Hiding Bits You Don't Like
If you’re wearing a dress that shows your curves, but you want to hide some parts of your body you don't feel comfortable about — you’re going to want to go with a control type of bridal lingerie. Typically, this is a snug sort of lingerie that smooths the edges that you don’t want to show in your wedding dress.
To Achieve a Smaller Waist
If you’re wearing a dress with a full skirt, you might want to wear lingerie that helps your waist become smaller or appear smaller. You can do this with a corset or some waist-cinching lingerie. Typically, you won’t need anything special for below the waist, as this will all be hidden away anyway.

Tips for Choosing the Perfect Bridal Lingerie
Don’t Put it Off
Even though we just said delay, don't delay too long in purchasing your bridal lingerie. We'd recommend finishing up shopping for your bridal accessories before your first fitting. And, if you are dead set on a type of lingerie or undergarment (or shoes or any other accessory, for that matter), wear it while shopping for your dress. But don't be surprised if you end up choosing a completely different style of wedding dress than you planned!
Try It All On
Bring all bridal accessories to every fitting, especially your underwear and shoes. Your undergarments can dramatically change how a gown fits you, just like shoes can affect the hem.
Don't Forget to Look Down
Keep your neckline in mind when choosing what type of bridal lingerie to shop for. If your gown is strapless, consider a strapless corset or bustier. If your gown has a plunging neckline, you’ll need something that also has a low neckline, otherwise it may peek through!
Don't Choose Overpowering Colours
If you choose a lightly coloured wedding dress, then your bridal lingerie needs to be light too, or skin-coloured, otherwise it'll show through. You can always switch to a more colourful option for your wedding night!
Wear it Before the Big Day
You must wear new lingerie or shapewear around the house to get an idea of how it feels, and if you have any support issues, or rubbing. Doing this will give you the opportunity to resolve any problems ahead of time, so you can fully enjoy your big day celebrations.
