Here’s what Ellis Bridals, Mori Lee & Maggie Sottero envision for Meghan Markle’s big (royal wedding) day this weekend!
With just days—mere days!—to go to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s royal wedding, more big-day details are beginning to pour out of Kensington Palace. We now know that Meghan will not be walking down the aisle on the arm of her father 🙁 That following their I dos at St. George’s Chapel, the newlyweds will ride through the streets in an Ascot Landau carriage; and that Meghan, Harry, and their lucky guests will dine on a lemon elderflower wedding cake at the reception. One major detail that’s still under lock-and-key? Meghan Markle’s wedding dress!
While rumours are circulating of the chosen royal wedding dress designer (our money is on Erdem!), nothing is for certain and it seems like royal wedding fans will be left in the dark until the big moment when Meghan heads into St. George’s on May 19. Will she go for a princess ball gown? Or perhaps she’s talked the Queen into letting her rock a more modern silhouette…? It won’t be long now until we finally find out! But in the interim, we’ve got some very good guesses from some of our favourite wedding dress designers, who were asked to create a sketch of the wedding dress they think Meghan should wear for her walk down the aisle.
Do you think Prince Harry’s fiancé will end up wearing something similar to these wedding dresses come Saturday? We will soon see!
A very striking statement from the guys at Maggie Sottero! We’re not quite sure that she’ll be able to be so bold and wear trousers! Or is it a very slim skirt, they don’t explain! However the look is gorgeous and we can totally imagine Meghan Markle with a detachable skirt – a very graceful sweep down the long aisle… and then the skirt is whipped off for partying with the in-laws in the evening! The back is gorgeous too, a deep v-back decorated in what looks like delicate lace – very pretty. Overall a very sleek look which we think suits her perfectly with a touch of the romantic.
Here’s what Mori Lee predicted for Meghan, a slightly more traditionally regal look but still modern enough for Miss Markle.
This is Madeline Gardener, the designer for Mori Lee said. ‘For the modern princess, Ms. Meghan Markle, I’ve designed a classic ball gown with a removable overskirt and lengthy train, as an ode to Princess Diana. Modern embroidery mixed with vintage lace, as well as an illusion neckline and sleeves, keeps the design traditional yet contemporary. Meghan is a true inspiration with a beauty that radiates from within. I’m delighted for her and excited for the next royal wedding!”
Ellis Bridals have been designing wedding dresses for over 100 years, so they have seen a few royal wedding’s! Again a very nice combination of modern mixed with traditional from them and we think Meghan would really go for something like this!
When asked about her future gown, Meghan Markle expressed to Glamour (2016) “classic and simple is the name of the game, perhaps with a modern twist.” In line with her indication, Ellis Bridals’ luxuriously structured Mikado Gown creates a divinely clean silhouette combined with striking embroidery.
Here’s what Regine Ellis said about their royal wedding dress prediction, ‘The simplistic and traditional style of the dress is heightened by the distinctive cut out lace embroidery, a jaw-dropping detail that completely sets this dress apart from the rest. The off the shoulder strap detailing completes the elegant dress creating a look of pure charm.’
So there you have it! Who knows who will be designing the royal wedding dress and what it will look like, which is something quite spectacular in the age of the internet. Suffice to say we are sure it will be a gloriously British/American occasion and we can’t bloomin’ wait! Cheers to the Royal Wedding 2018!
