Twice a year we have the enviable ‘task’ (I know, it’s a tough job but someone has to do it!) of selecting which of Maggie Sottero’s wonderful designs we choose for the shop. Maggie’s designs are just too yummy to make it an easy job.
Buying bridal gowns genuinely reminds me of that saying ‘like a kid in a sweet shop’ – how on earth are we supposed to choose? I mean, when you are faced with racks, rails and runways of the most temptingly stunning bridal gowns and you know you only have room to choose a set number for your brides – it’s just like being eight years old and told you can only choose a quarter of sweets when you think every jar on the shelf looks chock-full of delicious treats…
All designed ‘with the classic romantic bride in mind’, Maggie Sottero designs are renowned for their fit. The company has over four generations of experience and is one of the most recognised bridal design houses in the world. Their famous corset was a total revelation when it first hit shops and brides raved about how amazing the dresses felt and made them look. It was quite simply, a game-changer, and the fit has come to be known as ‘Maggie magic’.
We absolutely love Maggie Sottero designs but it is hard to sum up the ‘look’ of a Maggie gown in a few words as the collections are just so full of choice and cater for just about every look and taste a bride could want. It may be due to the international influence of having design studios in Australia and America which creates this multi-award winning choice.
Looking for a chic column gown, a floaty fishtail or a classic ball gown? With crystal encrusted lace overlay, modern detailing or just a stunning, sumptuous fabric? Maggie Sottero dresses should be on your list.
I love their gowns with sleeves and their vintage touches which hint at the 1920’s and Art Deco styling. I also adore their coloured gowns – shades of pale pinks, blushes, golds, pewters and lavenders offer brides a whole new world of choice. Whatever the look, the quality and cuts of Maggie dresses all include a timeless silhouette and that totally ‘wow’ fit which makes them an industry respected design powerhouse as well as beloved by the brides who wear their dresses.
Here at the shop we are uber-excited as we have recently bought from Maggie Sottero’s ‘big sister’ collection, ‘Sottero and Midgley‘ and we can’t wait for the dresses to arrive. Known for a more fashion-forward, contemporary look, Sottero and Midgely offer eye-catching drama as well as refined styling. Gowns are due to arrive on our rails at the end of the summer…watch this space!
So, in a (chocolate coated) nutshell – whether you like cherry drops or sherbet pips or even if you’re a fruit bonbon or a salted caramel fudge kind of bride – be prepared to struggle over your choice of Maggie Sottero gown. Now, where did I hide that last quarter of lemon sherbets..?
