7 Questions To Ask Your Wedding Photographer
Ask to see a wedding from start to finish
On a wedding photographers website you will see a dazzling array of best bits. An amazing cake, a romantic waltz and a teary father of the bride! But can they capture the incredible moments in-between! Do they have the skill and the stamina to bring together the whole day from start to finish? They can! Ok great let’s carry on!

Can they meet at the venue for a walk-through before the big day
This is the perfect opportunity to make sure that you and your wedding photographer are on the same page. Scout out some unique locations for the intimate shots and the ideal backdrop for your friends and family. Don’t leave it up to chance on the big day. Think of your wedding as a photoshoot, no fashion photographer would have a shoot without a recce! Oh and plan for the wet weather… because this is England and you never know!
Can you/are you able to cover all of the preparation shots?
Tradition dictates that the bride and groom prepare for the big day separately. If you choose to abide by this then your photographer may either need to be able to perform some dark arts and be in two places at once, or… have a partner. In order to capture you and the girls getting ready, whilst simultaneously shooting the boys down the Horse & Groom wetting their whistle the photographer may request an additional fee. So check prior to booking to see if its included or if you even want your future husbands big day preparations included!
Will you create a wedding album for us?
Some wedding photographer’s will do this automatically, but some not… Double check to make that they are creating a memento for you, in what-ever form that may be. You may just want a usb stick of images for you to create something with at will but if not make sure they are working with someone who can create exactly what you’re thinking of!

What if you (the photographer) are ill on the day??
I know! It doesn’t bare thinking about but… its important to make sure that a plan is in place in case it does. The wedding photographer should have a contract in place that states that if he can’t attend then a full refund will be given. They should also have a list of contacts with similar styles to themselves who can stand in for them. Crisis averted!
Are you a flasher? Or do you prefer it in natural light?
Whats funny…? This is serious stuff! Well if you can get your mind out of the gutter for a moment, we advise you to check with your wedding photographer on what kind of lighting they plan on using. Modern wedding photography is awash with images using natural light and the results can be amazing, but if you are having a winter wedding or want to capture an evening ceremony for example you will need to make sure they have the right equipment for that. Its vital you see those ‘after dark’ shots!
